His Excellency John Dramani Mahama
On the 7th of December, 2024, the Ghanaian citizen decided to be a patriotic citizen and not just a spectator by voting out the NPP government to reinstate the NDC government led by H.E John Dramani Mahama.
The significant story about this regime of government is that the running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, is now the vice president of Ghana and the first female vice president of Ghana and West Africa.
Secondly, it is the first time in Ghana’s history that a presidential candidate who was once a president has been in the opposition and has been voted back into power to lead the country. This shows how eager Ghanaians are to see visible and tangible development.
In the legislative arm of Government, this is the first in the history of the 4th Republic that a particular political party takes two-thirds of the parliamentary seats in parliament. Numerically, NDC holds 183 seats with 4 independent candidates in their caucus making them have 187 seats, and NPP with 88 seats. This makes the NDC the greater majority and as used in parliament the NPP as the micro-minority.
After the exceptional inauguration of the president and his vice which called on all leaders of the West African region and their representatives, the President of the 4th Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama issued an Executive instrument to reduce the number of ministers from 30 to 23; the executive instrument is below:

Ghanaians are watching closely to see what the president can do.
