Hon. Sam George Explains SIM Re-Registration Process What You Need to Know
Communication Minister Designate, Honourable Samuel Nartey George after being approved by parliament yesterday spoke about his plan on the sim re-registration and how is going to be carried along. He elaborated that it’s not going to be a queued exercise but a digital one during his vetting.
He further established to the House of Parliament that, in the process of re-registration, a Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) would identify both the sim and the equipment on one National ID. He made a scenario with the fraudsters that after the sim card is used and blocked by the Telcos, they go out to get another to continue their fraud but in Honorable’s elaboration he mentioned that because both the device and the some are registered on one National ID after the sim is blocked, the device is also blocked.
Furthermore, it goes and long way to bar that particular National ID from registering another sim unless they visit the office for rectification.
