The Minority in Parliament is accusing the chairman of the vetting committee Bernard Ahiafor of Preventing members from conducting adequate scrutiny “the minister designate during the just-ended ministerial vetting.

The nominees for the vetting process were the Finance Minister-designate, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Energy Minister-designate, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, and Minister of Justice and Attorney-General-designate, Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Dr Gideon Boako, alleged that the chairman’s actions undermined transparency and accountability.

 

Dr. Boako expressed concerns that the process did not adhere to established standards.

“When the CVs were eventually provided, the chairman refused to allow preliminary discussions on them, effectively shielding the nominees from proper scrutiny,” he stated.

Finally, the Minority in Parliament called for reforms to ensure future vetting processes coincide with parliamentary procedures and foster accountability.
